One and a half million people became homeless in just a short moment when a huge tsunami swept in over the countries in Southeast Asia during Christmas 2004. DanChurchAid collected approximately 13.15 million USD for the tsunami-relief. The money was spent on emergency assistance in India and Sri Lanka, for the reconstruction of solid houses, help to the fishing communities, boats, fishing nets and microcredits. But the money was also spent on people who were indirectly affected e.g. the Dalits who did not own land or boats. Now, four years have passed and the programme has been closed down.Come along and visit some of the people who benefitted from the assistance from Denmark. More…
